Tell us about your horse

Alfie ... My 14.1 12 year old little native mixture . I've owned Alfie for 6 years, after owning him for a year or so I was intrigued about where he came from and to see if I could trace any breeding as he has so many similarities from a previous new forest pony I had as a child. I wrote letters to everyone in his passport to discover he was rescued as a two year old and hadn't had a very good start in life , after his rescue he was passed around a it until I bought him as a 5/6 year old.

He's not the same pony he was when I first got him, a lot of hard work and changes but I wouldn't change him for the world and he's definitely with me for life, he's a special boy and a part of the family.

What do you do when you aren't with your horse?

When I'm not with Alfie I'm usually working , to fund his needs hahaha , or doing things with my partner and our dog (gotta share the love between them all ) 😀

What do you love about the horsey community?

I've always loved the horse world. I fell in love with them at about 3 years old and although you get the odd "bitchy" characters, the majority of friends I've made through horses over the years are lovely and very supportive. Cheering on friends, sharing, helping each other and seeing good results is lovely to see and makes you feel proud that your hard work pays off!

Do your family share your passion for horses?

My parents aren't horsey people but my aunties have had horses and as a child I lived round the corner from the riding school. That started my love for horses at 3 years old. My Mum and Dad let me have my own ponies and helped me as a child even though they aren'r horsey.

They bought me a couple of ponies as I grew up and when I turned 18 they left me to the horses on my own in which I carried on my love for them, and now at 26 I couldn't imagine a life without them.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself

Here is a little brief of our day we took the Supreme Championship at Homestead Riding Club

After going to homestead as a child, I've always gone to have fun! I never thought I'd do so well and I've never taken it too seriously, after all my little rescue pony would never win all the pretty show ponies would he?

So we went to do our favourite event and pop round the working hunter classes. He was having an amazing day, so we put our big brave pants on and even braved the 95cm class. We had odd unlucky fences down in some classes over the day, but we also had some wins so we decided to enter the championship, and we took reserve champion in the working hunter.

I then booked us in to equitation and the plan after that was to go home, but we won equitation and everyone then told me I had to stay and do championship for ridden, so I did.

As a massive shock I won it! So we went into the supreme championship not expecting in a million years to win it and a friend also in it said to me "you've got this" I shook my head and said don't be daft.

Much to my surprise we got it and took supreme champion! Never have we ever done so well all in one day! I was bursting with pride, and it gave me so much determination to keep up the hard work. No matter what pony, what lessons , where your from, what you have , nothing matters other than your determination as a team, and your bond as a team!
