Welcome to our feature, 10 minutes in the tackroom. This is a regular feature where we ask riders, businesses and charities 12 questions and they have a maximum of 10 minutes to answer them.

This week in the saddle we have Lucy Edwards, you can follow Lucy on Instagram

Tell us about your horse

I have two horses; one called Whisperwood Hopes and Dreams (Eliza for
short!) and one called Bally Farelady (Bally) both of which I compete in Senior
BSJA competitions, and have so far competed up to Discovery level.

Tell us a horse joke

What do you call a female horse?
A Nightmare!

What do you do when you aren't with your horse?

On the rare occasions I am not with the horses, I’ll be shopping for all the
latest things for them!

What do you love about the horsey community?

Everyone is always happy to lend a hand if you’re ever struggling, especially at
shows!

What do you dislike about the horsey community?

People can be very judgemental towards your riding, or goals. I think it can be
quite hard to progress at times when you feel people are laughing at your
abilities or goals – we all need to be more supportive of one another!

Do your family share your passion for horses?

No! My parents aren’t horsey at all, but they did give riding a go after I
properly got into it.

Tell us your funniest horse related story?

When I was 7 years old, me and my parents were going for a walk down the
country lanes near our house. We came across a rider on a horse, and this
was the first time I can actually remember seeing a horse in real life. The lady
asked if I wanted to pat the horse, and then asked if I wanted to ride the
horse. Of course I said yes, so she jumped off and lead me around on a little
circle. I then asked for a lesson for my eighth birthday present, which turned
into another, and another and eventually two horses!
Not a funny story, but looking back as a horse owner now, I do find it quite
strange that she let me sit on her horse!

Who is your favourite famous horse rider?

I really admire Scott Brash and John Whitaker. They both always appear so
calm when competing, and have both achieved amazing results in their
careers!
You can read more about Scott Brash here and John Whitaker here.

Who is your favourite famous horse?

Shutterfly, ridden by Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum. I think the results this
horse had in his career are amazing, and think he’s absolutely gorgeous! I may
be slightly biased though, as my horse Eliza is related to him!
You can read more about Shutterfly here

How many times have you fallen off?

Far too many times!

What horsey product can't you live without?

Treats - I don’t think I’d manage to bribe my horses to do anything without them!!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself

I work at my local tack shop at the weekend, and have recently qualified to fit
riding hats and body protectors!
