Welcome to our feature, 10 minutes in the tackroom. This is a regular feature where we ask riders, businesses and charities 12 questions and they have a maximum of 10 minutes to answer them.

This week in the saddle we have Ruth from Trackener.  Ruth is Sales and Marketing Manager at Trackener. Trackener is a revolutionary horse wearable device and app that is helping horse owners and carers optimise their horse’s health and wellbeing thanks to unprecedented insights. Tell us about your horse

I have a 16.2 Warmblood that I share called Alfie. He is the most pleasing boy and tries so hard in everything he does. I haven’t been riding him for long but so far he has been foot perfect. We do lots of hacking and schooling in preparation for some dressage competitions this year!

What do you call a horse that can’t lose a race?.... Sherbet

What do you do when you aren't with your horse?

Work, Spend time with my family, Read or go for a walk/run. I love being outdoors and active so any excuse to get out!

What do you love about the horsey community?

I think being a horse owner provides great values and morals. You learn to be selfless, manage time, make money stretch, how to appreciate nature and the outdoors and you become disciplined and responsible. Sharing a large amount of time with like-minded people is always enjoyable so I love that the horse community is its own little world.

What do you dislike about the horsey community?

The critical and judgemental attitude of some equestrians. We should all help and encourage each other!

Do your family share your passion for horses?

Yes and No. My love of horses began from my Dad’s love of racing and inspired me to ride. When I had my own pony and first horse they would both muck in and get involved but now they are older, a warm sofa is far more appealing or so they say! They still both love horses though.

Tell us your funniest horse related story?

When I was 14 and my parents would drop me at the yard for the day I would take a packed lunchbox of goodies to keep me going. One day I came back from the tack room to tuck in and found the entire contents gone and just a skips packet wrapper in my pony’s stable. Needless to say she enjoyed the cheese sandwiches and skips!

Who is your favourite famous horse rider?

Pippa Funnell. Ever since I was a little girl I have loved Pippa. Even though I am more of a dressage enthusiast, it’s always been about Pippa!

Teddy The Shetland

How many times have you fallen off?

A few…I’d guess and say 20-25?

What horsey product can't you live without?

Cowboy magic. Nothing gives a better looking coat than Cowboy Magic!

You can get your Cowboy Magic from Equissimo

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself
