Welcome to our feature, 10 minutes in the tackroom. This is a regular feature where we ask riders, businesses and charities 12 questions and they have a maximum of 10 minutes to answer them.

This week in the saddle we have Amy Russell. Amy is also known as Coloured Dancing Pony and can be followed on her Facebook and Instagram pages

Tell us about your horse

I'm really Lucky, I have 2!

My lovely Skye a 14.2 coloured Cob, and my new Kwpn 3 year old Katy who is by the stallion Everdale.

Skye I can do anything with, from strutting her stuff in the white boards at BD to galloping along the beach, she’s just brilliant we love her very much.

Katy my baby is enjoying herself living out at the moment with friends and just loving life being 3.

I also ride a bay called Leo who I ride and compete for his owner.

Tell us a horse joke!

What's black and white and eats like a horse? A zebra!

What do you do when you aren't with your horse?

I work full time for the NHS, I also have a second Job working at a bar.  When I'm not at work or down the yard I spend time with my boyfriend, he’s into his motor cross so i'll go and watch him out on the track.

What do you love about the horsey community?

The biggest thing I love about the horse community is how it forms friendships; I have met people through the horses that I would call friends for life now.

What do you dislike about the horsey community?

What I don’t like about the horse community is how some people can be really negative.  Everyone has a bad day or something that can be improved so to me it’s really important that everyone encourages one another.

Do your family share your passion for horses?

Yes, I couldn’t do what I do without my parents, my mum and dad will truck us to the other side of the country if needed.  They help me out whenever they can and they have had to learn through plenty of time down the yard what to do and how to handle the horses.

My family are really supportive and that means a lot to me.

Tell us your funniest horse related story?

I’d not long had Skye; I was just about to get on her in the school when the step broke underneath me, and crash I went right under Skye’s belly.

My mum couldn’t stop laughing at me, and Skye turned to say “what are you doing down there?”

Who is your favourite famous horse rider?

Honestly; the fact I love Dressage it would have to be Charlotte Dujardin, she’s an inspiration to us all.

Read more about Charlotte Dujardin here.

If I could choose a second person it would be Lottie Fry, she is an amazingly talented rider, she’s really down to earth to speak too and she rides Katy’s dad Everdale... I look up to her massively.

Read more about Lottie Fry here.

Who is your favourite famous horse?
I don’t really have a favourite famous horse to be honest but one that sticks out is the legend Valegro.
Read more about Valegro here.

How many times have you fallen off?
Oh loads – you’re not a proper rider until you fall off right?
What horsey product can't you live without?

It would have to be leg and body whitener, both my horses have white legs so it’s a must, I have OCD about turnout they have got to look their best!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself

I had a riding accident in 2014 resulting in the 3 main ligaments in my knee being snapped, I was told I wouldn’t ride again if I didn’t have an operation.  Still no operation and im back doing everything I was before my accident, winner.

Well done Amy, you have completed the #10minutesinthetackroom challenge. If you would like to take part in the challenge please email info@equissimo.co.uk
