Welcome to our feature, 10 minutes in the tackroom. This is a regular feature where we ask riders, businesses and charities 12 questions and they have a maximum of 10 minutes to answer them.

This week in the saddle we have Staff Sergeant Ben Moore. Ssgt Moore is part of the United Kingdom Armed Forces Equestrian Team (UKAFET). The UKAFET is made up from members from all our Armed Forces who carefully balance the challenge of serving the United Kingdom with pursuing their equestrian ambitions.

Tell us about your horse

Willows Clover Promise (Lucas) is a 16.2 9-year-old gelding. He is an Irish Sports Horse Section A. Lucas is a Military Working Horse who I have ridden for the last two years. Although he loves his Show jumping he can be a little grumpy in the stable!

Tell us a horse joke

I’m afraid jokes are not really my thing I leave that to my 11 year old daughter Grace who has numerous joke books!

What do you do when you aren't with your horse?

Go to pony shows with my daughter and her pony “Poppy.”

What do you love about the horsey community?

I think on the whole the great sportsmanship that is seen amongst equestrian people.

What do you dislike about the horsey community?

I sometimes see “pushy” parents at pony shows and think it has all got a bit too serious at times.

Do your family share your passion for horses?
My mum definitely not! She is petrified of them. My Dad started riding when I started lessons at the age of 7 but he no longer does now.

Tell us your funniest horse related story?

....mmm not sure on this one. I do recall though that when legging my partner Trish on to her horse I threw her straight over! It was not my greatest moment and was the first time I had gone to visit her horse. (We are still together though!)

Who is your favourite famous horse rider?

A.P McCoy
You can read more about A.P McCoy here.

Who is your favourite famous horse?

How many times have you fallen off?
I really can’t remember!

What horsey product can't you live without?

My horse loves herbal treats and it really helps to pacify him! He also has a Jolly Ball outside his stable which travels with him when we stay away.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself
