Day 1

Horse shopping day one....

We made our way there in good time but I have to say I was feeling slightly apprehensive I haven’t ridden that much in the last 6 weeks and a week on holiday stuffing myself means I’m unfit and chubby!!

Two lovely horses to view and try

Horse one a lovely bay 5yr old mare, 16.1hh is competing novice with scope for the future, beautiful mover and a real sweetie but just didn’t feel like the one for me.

Horse two a beautiful 7yr old gelding by Fuetstenball, 16.1hh, schooling elementary/medium. Felt at home, he was so trainable and an absolutely teddy bear he loved cuddles and kisses and I had a little play with passage steps!

So day one was a success... with one possibility, another to try tomorrow and then another Sunday  oh and a compliment that I rode nicely  I’ll take that it’s the confidence boost I needed

Day 2

A 16.2hh, 9 yr old chestnut mare, competing advanced medium. A beautiful horse who looked quite plain un-tacked but a real stunner tacked up. We watched her warm up and show off her paces and then I hopped on. I definitely feel better on a bigger horse compared with the previous days and enjoyed the spark ⚡️ of riding her but felt she was still a bit to small for me!

I’m used to riding Seb who was 17.1hh so it feels strange riding the smaller horses, I don’t look ridiculous riding the smaller horses but it just doesn’t feel natural. Seb had spark and was naturally talented so finding a new partner is proving a challenge.

I have a further two horses lined up this week, one Friday and one Sunday both more advanced horses and 16.3/17.2hh so fingers crossed.
